RICH BECKER PASSES


Obituary:
Richard Becker, age 67, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Josefina (Ponce-Guay) Lent, entered eternal life Thursday, January 3, 2013 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Mr. Becker was born September 24, 1945 in Bridgeport, son of the late John and Emma (Southworth) Becker and had been a lifetime Bridgeport area resident. Richard enlisted in the United States Navy on September 22, 1965 and served proudly for 21 years, retiring as Radio Man, Petty Officer First Class (E6) on June 30, 1986 at Norfolk, VA. After retiring, he moved back to the Bridgeport area and worked his second career at PSE & G, formerly the UI Power plant. He retired in April 2012. Richard loved his family, an occasional trip to the casinos and golfing vacations. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his three children, William Becker and his wife Lisa, of Bridgeport, Robert G. Becker and his spouse, Timothy Butler of Stamford, and Master Sergeant Julia Farmer of Boise, Idaho; one brother, William Becker and his wife Ester of Bridgeport; one sister, Dora Glendinning of Monroe; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Dovid, Benjamin, Sarah, Zachary, Jacob, Sofia and Daniel; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Adrianna and Charlie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Victor , John and James Becker, and six sisters, Kathleen Gregory, Anastasia Buchana, Theresa Baird, Eileen Kohler, Judith DiDonato and Paula Hogan; and one step sister, Mary Davis Trolan. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday January 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. by meeting directly at Saint Francis Episcopal Church, 2810 Long Ridge Road, Stamford. Naval Burial at Sea will be private. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford.
